PrioData Select Fast!

[03-27-2006] Priodata is proud to announce the release of PrioData Select Fast! for Oracle. It's a tool to automate the repetitive tasks associated with the SQL tuning process on the Oracle Database. With Select Fast!, you can easily write and keep track of all alternative query versions you create during the tuning process, run them at once to collect statistics, run EXPLAIN PLAN, capture plan from V$SQL_PLAN, set bind variables and session level initialization parameters, etc. Its multi-threaded UI lets you run queries on several databases at the same time, and continue working on new ideas.

Better yet, you can save all this information (the complete analysis, with the queries, statistics results and execution plans) in a single file, for your own future reference or to share your work and thoughts with coworkers.

Select Fast! also has a simple-to-use window interface to Oracle10g's Tuning Advisor functionality.

Select Fast! really improves performance of the process of tuning Oracle applications. This product is also ideal for consultants, because of its small footprint, easy to install and uninstall. A single EXE file, with about 500k, requiring only .NET Framework and the Oracle Client to run.

Features

Multi-connection support: you can use one account to run your statements and other one to query V$ views, so no need to give extra privileges for tuning (this allows finer security control). Select Fast! detects existing privileges automatically and use them.

Evaluate

Priodata invites you to evaluate Select Fast! so you can make sure the product really meets your expectations before buying it. You can download here a free trial version of the program and use it for 30 days, with some usage limitations. After this period you must purchase a license or deinstall it from your computer.

The trial version limitations are:

You cannot use more than 4 database accounts in the same analysis.
You cannot save a file with more than 10 items in the analysis. An item is a query, parametrization, execution or plan (connections do not count as items).
You can run Tuning Advisor only once per session.
There is a splash window that is shown every time you start the program and requires you to wait 5 seconds to dismiss it.

These limitations were designed so that you are completely able to evaluate the product, but not to make "production" use of it. Also, the trial version is limited to 30 days. Please read the license agreement for more details. If you want to use Select Fast! without these limitations or after the 30-day trial period, we require you to buy a license. Please consider that the price is not very high, and your purchase will encourage further development of the tool. Thank you.
